Experience the best food in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Which are the best restaurants in Las Palmas?
There are so many. But which ones truly deserve your attention, money, and precious holiday time?
The Canary Islands are just incredible and full of cultural experiences. One of the best ones is the delicious food and beverages.
Below, I list the top 8 restaurants that I believe are worth visiting in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria! (more info about Las Palmas here). No doubt, there are many more. However, these are selected based on food experience, money value, customer service, and a few more factors. Each one of them is unique and with beautiful concept.
There are two sections depending on which part of the city you are staying in. The first one is the “new town,” near Las Canteras beach, and the second part focuses on the old town and the neighbourhoods of Vegueta and Triana.
So let’s check them out!
1. THE BEST RESTAURANTS AROUND LAS CANTERAS BEACH
This fantastic tapas bar offers traditional Canarian food, accompanied by the fresh breeze and the sound of the waves. It might be a bit more pricey than your average tapas place, but their portions are generous, and their cheese platter offers a fantastic selection.
Amigo Camilo
Legendary as the place with freshest seafood, if you’re a fan, that’s the place to be. You can go up to the counter and choose your own selection of seafood. Amigo Camilo’s view towards El Confital beach is also far from disappointing.
Bodegón Pachichi
Bodegón Pachichi was my favourite stop on my way home from the beach. The smell of delicious freshly made food brings you to the cozy wooden interior. It’s super casual, and everyone’s welcome. You can easily find yourself chatting with the group sitting next to you.
A cozy interior and a wide variety of wines are not all that Tasca Galileo offers. Many people refer to it as a ‘hidden tapas gem’ as their food menu is extraordinary, and its preparation is on point.
2. THE BEST RESTAURANTS IN VEGUETA AND TRIANA (THE OLD TOWN)
La Vegueta De Colón is a tiny coffee shop in front of the gorgeous Santa Ana cathedral. Despite the size, they offer delicious tapas, and they know about food presentation. The quiet and authentic surroundings make it a must-visit for travellers. And they’re vegan-friendly!
Allende is a chain of restaurants, and the one in the neighbourhood of Triana has a modern interior, standing out from the surrounding restaurants. The menu is mixed and offers traditional Spanish dishes and international cuisine.
El Travieso is a traditional Spanish tavern popular with excellent customer service and delicious dishes. Small but cozy, this place has an outside terrace, perfect for a cold cervecita and papas arrugadas. It is not the cheapest compared to other restaurants, but the quality and service match the price!
Fruit’n Co Vitamina Bar presents a new, fresh and different food perspective in Las Palmas. They focus on healthy bites and juices and are famous for their super fresh ingredients. Great value and options, including gluten-free and vegan plates!
3. HONOURABLE MENTIONS
I need to include the fast food here. One of our crew’s top choices for a night in or out. The lack of KFC led to us finding this little place where the best fried chicken is served. Absolute dream!
I so much regret not finding this place earlier! We randomly came across it the day before we left Gran Canaria. Conveniently it’s right outside the weed club. Best arepas in town, super fast service and great Venezuelan food. The pulled pork is fantastic!
So, let's go for a bite!
So this was my list of favourite restaurants around Las Palmas. They are all fantastic, and if you ask me – I couldn’t recommend one over the other. All of them are with great reviews, and each one has a special touch, which is why they’re on the list of favourites!
